Design 8 - Strategic design
2023

Challenge
Dr.Dropin welcomed us with open arms and gave us a free task to analyze the company from a strategic design perspective. Dr.Dropin, a private healthcare company, is transitioning to becoming a scale-up and has many services which gave us a lot of freedom and the challenge of sorting information and making tough prioritizations.

Process

The project lasted for four months and the illustration below gives an overview of the different phases of the process and methods used. In short, we spent a lot of time gathering insight both from employees at Dr.Dropin and from patients and analysing this. To really get to know the company we travelled from Trondheim to Oslo to conduct interviews and observations both at the office and at multiple clinics. A lot of the methods were new to us as we had not done a strategic design project before. This led to interesting discussions and high learning outcomes.

Result
Due to confidentiality, I am not able to share most of our work. However, I would like to give you a sneak peek of our report which was the final delivery for the customer. They were very pleased with the result and have already begun to implement some of our work.

My role
As a team of three designers that had never done a strategic design project before, we were all eager to tackle every single part of the process together. We had to distribute some research on different methods and the company, but all the analyses and choices were made together. Working closely together with Dr.Dropin required good communication and planning which I took a lot of responsibility for.
